Go Grazin’ for Greens and Tall Ships

The Tacoma Farmers Market is all the rage with more than 80 booths packed with the best local farmers, art and tasty treats plus hip musical entertainment. We couldn’t pass up all this booty so so we’ve set our sails on Broadway and will join in the fun tomorrow and next Thursday too.

It all happens between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Broadway from 9th to 11th Street.

Tomorrow’s theme is Grazin’ the Greens and for entertainment they’ve got Jazz Strings.

Then, next Thursday, it’s all about Edible Roots and you can catch a performance by Luluspice and Friends with the Urban Arts Ferstival.

Want to learn more about the market and see some great photos, take a look at Matt Driscoll’s blog about the red carpet treatment on opening day.

So carve out some time in your day and stop by to say a hearty hello.

Summer Excitement Awaits – The Volunteer Drive is On!

What will you be doing this summer for fun?

Imagine being in the center of the action as hundreds of thousands of guests from all over the Pacific Northwest and even the world attend Tall Ships® Tacoma 2008.  You’ll be there showing your pride in Tacoma and the South Sound and serving as an ambassador of good will to ensure these guests have a joyful, unforgettable experience.

There are literally hundreds of volunteer positions to fill so you’re sure to find something that is both fun and rewarding.  And, you’ll be in good company as you work alongside thousands of your South Sound neighbors and the crews from 32 amazing sailing vessels.  Then, when it’s all over, you’ll be invited to join your fellow volunteers for a huge party to thank you for your efforts and celebrate your success!

So why not lend your hand and help us set up the tents, supervise activities for kids, provide  hospitality to visiting crews, manage vessel logistics, facilitate communication and much much more. If you have a boat or sailing experience, even better!

Every volunteer also receives an exclusive Tall Ships Tacoma 2008 shirt, baseball cap, water bottle, volunteer handbook and fanny pack.
